"Post Mortem" (dir. Pablo Larraín, 2010)

Another mordantly comic and freaky film by Larraín. Again set against the backdrop of Chilean government, this time the beginning of Pinochet’s dictatorship. The film deals with a morgue-autopsy-reports-typist who falls for a cabaret dancer. Just like in Tony Manero, here Larraín puts together two sides of the 70’s, making the film not just very political (like T.M. was all about) but also achieving something more special and interesting for his characters. Again the photography presents itself relevant and stylized, and occasionally bizarre, which gives the film its uniqueness and retains it from commonness. 7.5/10
